Faico: About Us
Friends of Cocos Island is a non-governmental organization founded in 1994. It is dedicated to supporting the sustainable management and conservation of Cocos Island and its surrounding ecosystems through the development of strategic alliances and resource management.
Words from 2003 expressed by Mr. Rodrigo Carazo Odio, founder of Faico.
For more than 20 years, our efforts have focused on the improvement of Cocos Island. Our model of collaboration with the Government, NGOs, the private sector, and civil society has allowed the promotion of actions to turn Cocos Island into a replicable example of good practices in the management of marine areas and protection of migratory species worldwide, which serve as a reference in the Tropical Eastern Pacific.
Our Mission
Promote best practices for the management and conservation of Cocos Island and Montes Submarinos marine biodiversity and important species that migrate throughout the Eastern Tropical Pacific.
Our Vision
The migratory species and ecosystems of Cocos Island National Park, Montes Submarinos Marine Managed Area, and the Eastern Tropical Pacific are thriving and will continue to do so for generations to come.
