Control and Surveillance

This thematic area consists of the development of actions that allow applying the relevant legislation to the Cocos Island National Park as:

  • Special operations
  • Patrolling to avoid or stop activities that threaten the integrity of the natural resources that are protected in the Park, specifically illegal fishing (longliners), and the introduction of exotic species, which are permanent threats to marine biodiversity and to the land

It also allows the development of actions to provide appropriate security to different types of visitors (tourists, volunteers, researchers), officials working in the Park, and to infrastructure and equipment.
