From May 25 to 27, the Cocos Marine Conservation Area (ACMC) and the Friends of Cocos Island Foundation (FAICO) participated in a Team Building Workshop held in Tortuguero National Park. On this occasion, significant progress was made in cohesion and teamwork through activities designed to face joint challenges.
The objective of the workshop was to strengthen the efforts that the ACMC and FAICO carry out to improve institutional alignment, teamwork, interpersonal relationships, and communication among officials of both organizations to achieve common goals. The attendees engaged in activities following a participatory methodology based on the concept of coaching and neuroscience, seeking non-violent communication skills through emotional intelligence techniques.
During the workshop, significant challenges related to managing a conservation area that is several times larger than mainland Costa Rica were addressed. Possible obstacles due to the geographical dimension of the conservation area were identified and analyzed, and dynamics and activities were designed and implemented with the work team, improving communication, and promoting institutional alignment.
In the final part of the workshop, the results were evaluated to generate recommendations that will ensure the sustainability of the benefits obtained in the long term between the Cocos Marine Conservation Area (ACMC) and the Friends of Cocos Island Foundation (FAICO).
With the strengthening of teamwork and the improvement of communication, joint projects are expected to advance efficiently towards the achievement of their goals and to contribute to successful management.
